Overflowing GRACE

The Grace of God is super abounding and shocking! It confuses the religious mind because its foundation is LOVE that is extraordinary! You might in fact call it "hyper". The dictionary describes the word hyper as meaning “over,” which implies excess. We have access to an excess amount of GRACE. It just doesn't run out - it overflows!

Romans 5:20 says: "Moreover the law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more." In Greek, "abounded much more" means hyperperisseuō which is defined as increase all the more, exceed bounds and overflow to super-abound.

Sin is bad, it's yucky, it destroys ...

But thank you Jesus, that where sin abounds, grace abounds much more. 💕

I have heard some people who hear the word "hyper" associated with grace claim that these two words together equate to a "cheap grace" message. But, how can one equate God's overflowing grace to being cheap?

I have read cheap grace as being defined as “the preaching of forgiveness without requiring repentance" or "grace without discipleship, grace without the cross, grace without Jesus Christ.” But, for those who do preach the true gospel message of Christ know that the price paid on the cross at Calvary was a costly one and to be forgiven and become a disciple of Christ does indeed require repentance, the cross and Jesus Christ.

Repentance is a change of mind and heart attitude towards our lives. It isn't simply a "I'm sorry" or wallowing in sorrow because of the consequences of sin, although those feelings can be present; rather it is a turning from banking on ourselves for salvation or overcoming sin and putting our full trust in Christ and the price He paid to free us. The compass of our lives literally does a 180 when we turn, trust and rest in the finished work of the cross, no longer trusting in our own futile efforts.

So when sin pops up in your lives, you can recognize it for what it is and agree with God that it is yucky, it is bad, and it isn't good for your life and turn to Him for inner strength and power to overcome that difficulty in your life.

When we make that change in our life direction and turn to Christ, it is beautiful to know that He will always be with us for the journey. He gives us a new heart with new and right desires and a new spirit and He comes and makes His home within our hearts. As we walk out our personal journeys of life, His desire is to express Himself in and thru us to the world. The evidence of that expression will always come from the assurance and experience of His LOVE and GOODNESS in our lives.

"And I will give you a new heart—I will give you new and right desires—and put a new spirit within you. I will take out your stony hearts of sin and give you new hearts of love." (Ezekiel 36:26)

"I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God." (Ephesians 3:16-19)

You can be forever changed by placing your faith in His Overflowing Grace and being rooted and grounded in His Love! 💝

"The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus." (1 Timothy 1:14)
